E-waste management in a nutshell

Hope this article could provide you an insight on what e-waste is & how it is polluting our environment.
Electronic waste , generally known as e-waste can be described as end of life electronic appliances / products such as discarded computers,TV's etc. It contains hazardous materials that pose a threat to the human health & ecology resources. The problems that are caused by our improper dumbing of e-waste are:
Land filling of such wastes could produce contamination, litchgates which eventually pollute the groundwater. It might also lead to acidifcation in the soil.
Incineration of e-waste emits toxic fumes & gases thereby polluting the surrounding air , leaching of mercury is also now leading to indefinite pollution.
Uncontrolled fire may arise at land fills.
Electronic items are discarded along with other household garbage , whereby the toxics pose a threat to both health & vital componnets of eco system.
Now lets think on how we could overcome this problems , in the past when pots were broken they were not thrown away rather they were crushed into fine clay powder & was remade into new finer pots, this can be done here also , recycling is a possible solution, but where & how? There are several recyclers coming up, but the best being the recycler which was first established in Bengaluru , but to transport this wastes to bengaluru is a difficult task for that, as youth we should unleash our potential & make arrangements & awareness to make our earth safe. Each & everyone should take initiative to collect these wastes & dumb in one place where the authorities could collect & hand over to the recyclers . Who knows these small choices that we make in a day could have a big impact on the environment.

Many a little makes a mickle

I would like to share my view on this proverb which had inspired me a lot in my childhood. The meaning of the same goes like this: little things or quantities often make a large thing or great quantity. Look at the ocean it’s actually formed of great number of little drops of water. Great sand dunes are formed from tiny grains of sand. If we save a little amount of money everyday it will become a huge sum in course of time. In short, all great or huge things are formed out of tiny things. This can happen in the other way also. If we lose something little by little, it will become a great loss to us in due course. If we borrow money little by little, we will find ourselves in great debts after some time. Therefore little things are in no way to be neglected. They can often compromise to form something huge. Great icebergs are actually formed out of little pieces of ice. These icebergs can often wreck, & sink a big ship if they crash into it. If we take a handful of snow & let it roll down a big slope, by the time it reaches the foot of the slope the little ball would have become bigger one more than the size of our head. The piece of moral to be extracted from this proverb is, if we patiently and continuously do something, eventhough little by little, we will be able to make something considerably big in due course of time . Likewise, we should never neglect our losses even if they seem to be small, for if we continue to lose, soon we may find ourselves in great trouble.

Indian value system changing over the years

A picture which actually throws light on to the present scenario, dearth of values, no sense of realization and inability to make distinctions between the right and wrong . What makes us stand out when we are in the other part of the world , that is our values , inspite of different religions spread out in our country , we don’t have a social diversity, the selflessness we show, the commonality we choose to possess are our strengths & our voice to say we are Indians, but isn’t it slowly reducing , yes, the thing which is lost unknowingly from us is this.

Indians have laid high stress on values like peaceful co-existence, spirituality, deference to elders, recourse to nature, artistic expression, seeking prosperity, strong family ties, respecting even the tools of your trade, joyousness and hospitality but now we don’t even bother to possess a single quality of dos above mentioned. The common letter we use daily is “I” not us , we are becoming selfish in all aspects. This is pure contradictory to our culture we were taught to be a part of others joys & sorrows but now what do we do , who are the others , its al ‘I’, me, my family that’s it.. There comes another question were are those joint families which stood high earlier with all might, everyone wants to stay aloof from others, marriages are breaking fast , the new blooms neither know what culture is nor moral values, they grow up isolated & stressed , they are deprived of all the good things which elders had got from their grand parents, the love, touch ,care everything is beyond their imagination , they are brought up in an atmosphere were they even loose their sense of identity, they might be gaining a few, but loosing a lot .

Think of it , we could make a change, adhere & stick onto our culture, keep your bonds strong, no drifting apart of relationships anymore , accept the good things from anywhere around d world but make it a point that we don’t forget our culture , stop the creeping in of self centered culture . “A nation's culture resides in the hearts and in the soul of its people”… these are the great words of Mahatma Gandhi lets give life to the words show the whole world the richness of our culture.
